Dene feels like he’s dying. He might be. He’s spitting out blood and he’s stuck at a club ignored by his friend Sam. He spots Lucy, popular among the crowd, and quickly gets entranced by them. Lucy talks to him and offers to help him with his problems, getting drunk, looking at art and dancing. The two of them fall into something unexpected, whether or not it will end well is up to the heavens above…

Small Flowers

1st ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR:

Small Flowers (2025)

Dir. Milla Kime

Influenced by poetic cinema and the raw beauty of rural Australia, Small Flowers embraces a restrained, atmospheric style. The undulating expanse of yellowed paddocks and dirt roads allows a patient environment for the two boys to interact, heightened by extended, intimate shots following a real-time journey. A whimsical, piercingly quiet portrayal of youth, solitude, and connection.

Thomas is a professional house-sitter and self- professed “solitary man”, whose internal monologue is narrated to us by a middle-aged British woman. His life is changed forever when he meets free-spirited homeowners Gus and Sally, who interrogate his innermost fears and desires in the name of radical honesty.
